Not much to say today, just sharing some inking. A splash and a few inexpert strokes, and you've got yourself a jellyfish

A headlamp can really set a stage A few years ago I took a crack at simple puppet making. It was a fun little clay project where I made all of the various bits, drilled a few holes, and with a handful of wire loops, made several articulated limbs. up we go When the limp little thing was done, I drilled some new holes, superglued some string to into said holes, and attached them to a popsicle-stick armature. It wasn't perfect, but it was surprisingly *not* awful. I am not, however, a puppeteer and I had little to do with the thing after I made it, which is why it hung in my studio for several years. And then, just about two years ago, my wife and I got a kitten. To prevent our long standing cat-in-residence from hurting the new sweetheart, we stowed the kitten in my studio for the first week, to let them acclimate to one another's scent. Suffice to say, loose, dangling things strewn around a working studio were a joy for a young kitten, springing in every direction until exhaust...

My boots make me feel whole

I tend to keep it somewhat lowkey, but I am a creature of habit. I find things and methods which work for me, and I tend to stick to them, sometimes the point of absurdity or excess. Thrift and discount stores have always been my standard method of acquiring new clothes, with any brand new purchases leading me to a frankly silly amount of research and deliberation before finally  settling on a pair of jeans. Compounded with this is that I do not weather changes to my self-image very quickly or gracefully. Once I find clothing that makes me feel both comfortable and not loathe myself, I get hooked. To this day, despite broadening my closet, my most common outfit is a black t-shirt and my go-to jeans. Often times the "go-to" pair of jeans on rotation have been black as well, leading me to pretty much always look like a backstage theatre tech. When I was ten years old, I got my hands on the GameCube version of Ocarina of Time  (A story for ...

a little bit about my favorite bike

If you know me, you know that I love my bikes. After a brief period of owning five bikes despite living in a normal-sized apartment, I've finally pared down to what feels like the essentials. My wife and I got rid of our car and replaced it with a Rad Power Bikes Radrunner 2, for use as the family van and grocery runner. It's got a seat on the back so we can ride together, which has led to some really romantic rides near the water at sunset. We have a Retrospec Beaumont 7-speed for my wife to ride when she's feeling the itch, and of course, I've still got my trusty 1988 Schwinn Prelude. Several years ago while still working at the barbershop, a good friend of mine and I got talking about cycling and how much I missed riding around our town since I had lost a bike a few years prior. A realisation hit him, and as he was bit just as bad by the bug as myself, he was at that moment in time reducing his own stock of bicycles. A couple days later, he returned with ...

I'm not great at a lot of things, but I try awfully hard.

Hello friends, mas here. I've made quite the migration over the last few years across the social media spectrum. Thankfully I am no longer contractually required to do that, but I did gain some insight into how I work in the social media landscape. I learned that I don't like them overall and I'd like to pretty much abandon all of them. but as a 21st century person its hard to completely leap off the wagon; so I figured why not jump onto another, albeit more nostalgic wagon? Yes, blogging is in my technological blood so I'm not going to fight it much longer. I don't think I'll settle on some singular purpose--  for now. At this time, this is the place where I'd like to put my stuff. Thoughts, pictures, writing, maybe a few bike builds? See, I'm into a lot of different things, none of which I'm terribly good at, but they help me be whole and at peace. I love writing short stories and novels, I love to climb tall things (but not too tall because rememb...
